For many applications such as buildings requiring large
spans of glass, toughened glass is the only acceptable alternative.
These glasses have exceptional strengths compared to standard
annealed float glasses.
These improved properties are a result of the stress profile
that is induced in the glass by the toughening heat.
Brilliant cutting or V cutting is the process
whereby polished V cuts are made in the surface of the glass
to provide a decorative pattern. Brilliant cutting provides
a classic, elegant linear style for door panels, mirrors and
the like. Brilliant cutting enables period style panels to be
processed and adds elegance to furniture glass, tabletops and
window panels. Also known as Crystal Cut.
This edge is produced by a rough stone, wet belt
or split arris diamond wheel. The edge of the glass is left
with a white arrised edge. The typical edge for toughened glass.
